Post-Revolt
• The events that took place in Unit 303 in Spaç prompted the undertaking of restrictive measures against political prisoners. Taking into consideration the created situation, with the aim of identifying and documenting the participants in the revolt, under the order of the deputy minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, several agent-operative-investigative measures were taken, among which were: 1—Who were the participants in the revolt?; 2—How did the revolt arise, what caused it?; 3—How far did the hostile activity of the convicts extend, the slogans that were shouted, the data on the raising of the flag.Who were the participants in the revolt? How did the revolt begin, and what caused it? How extensive was the hostile activity of the prisoners, the slogans that were raised, and information regarding the raising of the flag.
• 68 convicts were immediately arrested. Between the dates 23–24 May, 12 of the convicts would be tried by the Criminal College of the Supreme Court, which ultimately sentenced the defendants Skënder Daja, Hajri Pashaj, Pal Zefi, Dervish Bejko to death, while the other defendants to 25 years of imprisonment each, in addition to the previous sentence they had. Other sentences followed also for about 70 prisoners who were sent to the Tirana investigation office immediately after the violent suppression of the revolt.
• All convicts of the Re-education Unit were interrogated, to analyse their stance, and they would be studied on the basis of the materials gathered from the agent network, which would then be passed to the investigation office, with the aim of documenting the hostile activity that was organized in the outbreak of the revolt.
• The agent network was strengthened by shift, brigade, room.
• Military measures by the command were strengthened, for the increase of security in the Unit and the prevention of acute tendencies.
• The end of the revolt would not change the difficult condition of the convicts; on the contrary the Spaç prison-camp became even harsher, but nevertheless it was the face of the struggle against the regime, of organization, of unity, and of counteraction, even there where it was impossible to achieve a result, in prison.
